Dave Royce, a true son of the soil, born into a third-generation farming family. David's roots in agriculture run deep, shaping his life and career in profound ways.
From a young age, Dave was immersed in the vibrant world of farming. He learned the intricacies of cultivating a variety of crops, including sugar beets, tomatoes, potatoes, and summer and winter squashes.
All of the produce farmed was sold at his family’s prior businesses: Lodi Produce Shed, Royce’s Blue Ribbon Produce of Farmington.
As Dave grew older, he embarked on a new venture that would combine his passion for farming with his love for culinary arts. Thus, Royce Farms Barbecue was born.
For an impressive span of 17 years, Dave Royce successfully owned and operated Royce Farms Barbecue, a renowned restaurant that stood as a testament to his commitment to excellence. Nestled in the heart of San Joaquin County, the restaurant became a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
As Royce Farms Barbecue came to an end Dave partnered with Allen Sawyer to re-imagine The House of Shaw Cafe on the Miracle Mile into a classic European Cafe with excellent food offerings that are fresh and unique.
As a partner in The Exchange 1874, Dave leverages his experience in farming and relationships with the regional farming community, to assure The Exchange has the best local relationships for vegetables and proteins.
